Child and Family Services

CHILDREN'S ACCESS CENTER. CCI offers screening and assessment for children and their families in need. This service provides families with screening that will determine which Consortium children's service best meet their child's/children's needs.

CHILDREN'S SCHOOL-BASED PROGRAM. This program works with school-aged children who demonstrate emotional and behavioral difficulties that impede their ability to thrive at home, at school and in the community. The overall goal is to target specific behaviors and work in conjunction with the parents or guardian, school staff and other social services as applicable to each child. The identified child must be enrolled in the specific school and must participate with parents or legal guardian in the initial intake assessment, evaluation for medical necessity, and interagency meetings.

FUNCTIONAL FAMILY THERAPY (FFT) PROGRAM. Functional Family Therapy is a Nationally recognized blueprint program that provides short-term family intervention program serving families with youth ages 10-18. The aim is to prevent the continuation of activities such as delinquency, violence, disruptive behaviors and substance abuse. The overall goal is to improve family communication and supportiveness, while decreasing the negativity and hopelessness that is embedded in troubled families. Services are provided presently at no cost to the families.

CHILDREN'S RE-INTEGRATION SERVICES. This program was developed to provide a number of behavioral health services to address the umet needs of children entangled in the forensic, school, or child welfare systems. these initiatives serve children within the Youth Study Center, Community Education Partnership Schools, and other locations. The service offers a wide range of options that include evaluation, assessment, accelerated admission, referral and variety of non-site services.

CHILDREN'S OUTPATIENT SERVICES. Serving children ages 5-18, this program provides a variety of therapeutic intervention counseling. The services are coordinated with a skilled team of social workers, counselors, and creative arts therapists to address the specific needs of the child while working within the family structure. As an enhancement to this program we provide the parents of our children with support and parenting resources over a thirteen-week period through the F.R.E.E Family Recovery Empowerment Education Program. The parents participate in; group sessions, workshops and group activities that will provide them with resources for their families.

CHILDREN'S RESOURCE COORDINATION. The Resource Coordination Unit provides assistance for children up to 17 years of age with mental illness currently placed in residential facilities, and those in the community with moderate needs. The program will connect children with needed services upon discharge. All referrals are made and approved through the Philadelphia Behavioral Health System.

CHILDREN'S INTENSIVE CASE MANAGEMENT. This program provides individualized in-community support for children (up to 17 years of age) with serious and persistent mental illness. Services include a 24 hour-a-day, 7 day-a-week crisis response. The program uses a community support model and for consumer care and assists with coordination of community mental health needs. All referrals are made and approved through the Philadelphia Behavioral Health System.

ACROSS AGES PROGRAM. Across Ages is an intergenerational mentoring program model that was developed by Temple Universitys Center for Intergenerational Learning and focuses on positive youth development. The Consortium, Inc. has received funding from the Pew Foundation and the State of Pennsylvania for the Across Ages project.  The program provides children 10-13 years of age who are at-risk for violent activity and academic failure with additional adult support. The unique and highly effective feature of Across Ages is the pairing of older adult mentors (50+) with young adolescents, specifically those making the transition to middle school.  Mentors  are recruited from the community, trained and matched with the program participants and spend a minimum of two hours per week in one-on-one contact with the youth.

FAMILY-BASED BEHAVIORAL HEALTH SERVICES. This program is designed to prevent hospitalization or out-of-home placement of a child or adolescent with emotional disturbances and, when appropriate, to assist in reuniting families whose child or adolescent has been placed outside of the home. The family based program provides intense therapeutic interventions and support services to the child and family in the home and community to empower the family to care for the child. The Family-Based Mental Health Services Program also assists families in caring for deaf or hard of hearing children or adolescents with emotional problems. All referrals are made and approved only through the Philadelphia Behavioral Health System.
