For Maintaining Treatment and Mental Fitness:
We all experience different challenges as we go through life and getting through them occasionally can be an effort at any age. Sometimes we think we have to go through it by ourselves or that no one will understand. Some challenges are a little harder than others and some are due to chemical imbalances and may even be genetic. Maintaining treatment with a counselor or psychiatrist is a good way to stay active, productive and happy. Be good to yourself and reach out for help when you need to. You deserve it!

Support Systems:
Support systems are individuals or organizations like your family, friends, pastor, teacher, community center, case manager or therapist in whom you can confide and tell how you are feeling. They help us feel good about ourselves, lift our spirits, and maybe offer some words of wisdom, share their own experiences or just plain listen.

Having a good support system helps us get through the rough times when life seems too hard. It is natural to feel overwhelmed by different things. Sometimes illnesses, troubles at home or work, problems with the kids, financial or housing problems, or loss of loved ones can make life hard to bear. When things start going wrong, you may not have as much energy, you may socialize less, and you may have trouble sleeping or eating. Having a good support network helps keep you mentally fit. Let us help you help yourself get back on track.

Talk to a Counselor:
Mental illnesses can affect people of any age, race, religion or income. They can disrupt a person's ability to experience joy, enjoy the company of others, impact school or work performance, disrupt a person's thinking and ability to cope effectively and can lead to drug use or violence. Mental illness is not the result of personal weakness or character flaws.

Mental illnesses are treatable through individual or group counseling, medication, skills building, and supportive services such as housing and case management. Take the first step: contact one of our counselors. For children's services, please call 215-596-8170. For adult services, please call 215-596-8163 or 8164. Remember, we are here to help and you are not alone.
